Chongqing Received 3.41 Million Visitors During Mid-Autumn Holiday

Chongqing - Under strict covid prevention measures, the A-class tourist attractions in southwest China's Chongqing received 3.413 million visitors during the Mid-Autumn Festival from September 10 to 12, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development. The city held splendid cultural, art, and intangible heritage activities, adding fun to festive occasions.

During the three-day holiday, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce announced that the retail sales of major business districts and key monitored commercial and trade enterprises increased by 5.4 percent year-on-year. 

Overall, the city's A-level tourist attractions received a total of 3.413 million tourists, including 299,000 overnight visitors.

Under the normalized control of the epidemic, the city launched colorful cultural activities to enrich the supply of holiday products and feature a joyful atmosphere in an all-around manner.

For instance, the Sichuan Opera "Sister Jiang," as part of the participating repertoire of the 13th China Arts Festival and the 17th Wenhua Award, was staged on the evening of September 11 at the Sichuan Opera Art Center in Chongqing. Over 50 video platforms were simulcasted online, reaching 16.7788 million viewers.

The city's 43 public libraries and 41 cultural centers opened for free with 553,900 visits and provided 504,600 online services. All districts and counties carried out cultural activities, and 218,900 people participated citywide in 301 popular cultural activities.

The city's museums received 83,996 visitors when each region strictly implemented epidemic prevention and control requirements. The museums organized more than 30 temporary exhibitions, nearly 40 social and educational activities, and 200 online and offline exhibitions to pass on the quintessence of Chinese culture. 

Some districts and counties in Chongqing have held intangible cultural heritage-themed cultural activities according to local conditions. Residents could celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together through activities such as exhibitions, experiences, and craftsmanship based on intangible cultural heritage.

Tourists can enjoy a 40% discount to promote cultural tourism consumption if they plan to do surrounding travel like the Jindao Gorge Canyoning and Leheledu Parent-child Family Package. In addition, Ctrip, Meituan, and other marketing resources and mainstream channels have launched diversified subsidies for the people.
