Chongqing- Separated from the bustling downtown by a mountain, the top enjoys Chongqing University Town’s panoramic view. Here comes the first phase of the pastoral science project, newly planned by Western (Chongqing) Science City, located in Zhaishanping Village, with a project implementation area of 1,404 mu.
Characterized by splendid location, ecological beauty, nice view, and deep heritage, the science pastoral will be a poetic countryside to be desired in the future. It will be a good place for future innovation, an inspiration source for students’ creation, a place for science and technology, agricultural science popularization, and an experiment lab for scientists.
Previously the area around Zhaishanping mainly was cultivated land, and how to solve the idle land and protect the ecological background resources has become an issue for the Science City.
According to the relevant land space and ecological environment planning, the Western (Chongqing) Science City Management Committee sets out plans to renovate land and upgrade farmland and rural ecological landscape.
“First of all, the project can protect arable land and permanent basic farmland and ensure food security,” said the person in charge of the Western (Chongqing) Science City. “Second, it can improve the rural landscape and protect cultivated land.”
He said the project also focuses on farming culture to help integrate urban and rural landscapes deeply. Comprehensive land improvement will effectively enhance the productivity of arable land and achieve high and stable grain yields.
The Zhaishanping area of the first phase of the pastoral science project has been agricultural land with more than 80% for many years.
Its unique topography has created different functional divisions from the surrounding urban areas, with a better ecological environment and fresh air.
Zhaishanping is a famous historical village in Chongqing with rich cultural resources with a history of more than 600 years.
Technology, countryside, research, recreation, communication, and catering are indispensable elements in the design of science pastoral.
“It is necessary to consider the status quo of rural construction land and the surrounding natural background, combine with the future development demands and overall planning of the science city, and use scientific and technological means to integrate farming, agricultural science experiments, and landscape to realize the beautiful vision of science pastoral,” said the person in charge.
Through the linkage of various departments of the science city, the science pastoral will be based on a comprehensive land improvement to support the construction of rural landscapes and restore concentrated inefficient land to cultivated land.
In this way, the area of arable land has been increased, a standardized farmland pattern has been formed, and the observability of farmland has been enhanced. Ultimately, it will present a new urban pastoral scene with beautiful mountains, rivers, cities, and integrated fields.
