Chongqing - The 22nd Annual Week of Italian Language in the World will be held worldwide from Oct 17 to 23, with the theme of "The Italian Language and the Youth." This year's edition explores the evolution of the Italian language and ways of communication among a new generation of young people.

The Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing, with Sichuan International Studies University, will invite Italian professors and artists to prepare a series of themed activities. The content will focus on emerging vocabulary, Italian in the online world, digital tools for language learning, and the words most commonly used by young Italians.

On Oct 18, Giuliano De Santis, the world champion of performance poetry, will bring the online workshop, discussing poetry performance with the teachers and students of Sichuan Foreign Studies University.

Professor Tavosanis from the University of Pisa will bring the online audience with the lecture-themed "New Italians and Internet Italian Language." Luca Ma, a Chengdu Institute Sichuan International Studies University professor, will present an open class with the chosen topic of "Generation Z Italians on the Internet."

Young people are the leading group that this Week of Italian Language in the World attends to attract. To arouse their enthusiasm for participation and make the activities closer to young people, in addition to "Italian Language and Youth," they also added a sub-theme, "What? Sorry, I can't keep up with you." As it shows, there is a language gap between young people and the previous generation and between young people and their peers.

The Week of Italian Language in the World is a yearly worldwide celebration of the Italian language and creativity, hosted annually during the third week of October. It is one of the most important globalization activities with the Italian language as the theme.

The week began in 2001 and was launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy in cooperation with Accademia della Crusca. After that, the Swiss Confederation, which took Italian as one of the official languages, joined. Each year, Week of Italian Language in the World has a different theme, with many activities organized.
