Chongqing - The 2022 "Dancing Mountain City" Championship International Street Dance Competition will be held at the Chongqing Huaxi Cultural and Sports Center in Ba'nan District from Dec. 10 to 15.
The top hip-hop dancers in the country will gather in Chongqing to stage a fantastic hip-hop show, presenting the youthful vitality and enthusiastic spirit of young people. They will continue to promote Chongqing street dance and even the national street dance industry to represent China to the world.
This year's DMC includes routine dance competitions, individual battles, and provincial league competitions. Like previous years, it also set the dual meet of 32 provincial teams to compete for the championship. Each team comprised some of the best dancers selected by the China Hip-Hop Union Committee (CHUC) branch in every province.
"We set four categories for adult groups: Popping, Locking, Breaking, and Hip-hop. What is worth mentioning is that breakdancing has became the sports program in the 2024 Paris Olympics and was selected as a program for the Asian Games, the Youth Olympic Games, and the 14th National Games of China," said Xia Rui, Executive Deputy Director of the CHUC.
The participants will create original hip-hop works with traditional Chinese cultural characteristics or folk customs this year.
Also, this year's DMC will invite 23 first-class street dancers from home and abroad to form a judging panel to ensure the competition's professionalism, authority, and fairness. The amount of prize money for the provincial team and the routine project is another highlight of this event.
In addition, the Fourth China Hip Hop Awards Ceremony will be launched simultaneously, which is expected to build a communication platform for hip-hop lovers and promote the development of Chinese hip-hop culture, as well as an Annual Conference of the Ninth CHUC and "Training Camp of the Dancing Mountain City Championship International Street Dance Competition."
