Chongqing - Wanzhou District in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality signed a letter of intent on establishing international sister-city relations with the city of Monclova in the Northern state of Coahuila, Mexico.

Nie Hongyan, Mayor of Wanzhou District, and Mario Davila Delgado, Mayor of Monclova, signed a letter of intent to develop international sister-city relations by exchanging texts.
The city of Monclova is located in northeastern Mexico and was officially established in 1689. It is one of the 12 most competitive cities in Mexico, which has a superior location and is the center of the state of Coahuila. Its industry is well-developed, known as Mexico's "steel capital" and the world's largest tanker manufacturing city.
Wanzhou District is Chongqing's second most populated urban core area, located on the upper reaches of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River in China.

The signing of the letter of intent means that another bridge of friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation has been built between the local governments of China and Mexico. It is also the first time Monclova city has signed a letter of intent with a Chinese local government to develop international sister city relations.
The two sides will work together to promote exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, culture, education, environmental protection, and tourism and achieve mutual benefit.
The Foreign Affairs Office of the Wanzhou District People's Government will actively promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two places and strive to achieve practical results.
