Chongqing- The Chongqing Acrobatic Arts Troupe has won the top Golden Chrysanthemum Award for their performance "Boogie Man," seeing off competition from hundreds of entries at the 11th National Acrobatics Competition held in Puyang, Henan Province, on November 13. This represents the third occasion they have won this prestigious award, following previous successes in 2018 and 2021 with "Phantom Dove" and "Fairy Bean."

This award represents the highest recognition for professional acrobatics in China, comparable with the Plum Blossom Award for drama, Peony Award in folk arts, and the Lotus Award for dance. The National Acrobatics Competition featured nearly one hundred programs held by 33 art troupes from 25 provinces and cities. Among these, Boogie Man was the only entry from Chongqing selected on the final list for evaluation.

Boogie Man displays contemporary youth's optimism, positivity, and daring attitude. At the same time, this program, jointly created by the Chongqing Acrobatics Association, Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe, Nan'an Culture and Tourism Committee, and the Chongqing Art School, involved an entire repertoire of challenging technical routines and movements.

Chen Tao, head of the Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe, introduced how Boogie Man is one program from their resident "Infinite Joy Show." In September this year, they studied the tastes of modern audiences towards drama to spice up their routine, enhance the level of audience interaction, and also worked to upgrade costumes, lighting, and music. In addition, the performance was transferred from the stage onto a motorcycle. At the same time, actors prepared a new range of complex skills on a moving platform to bring audiences greater thrill and excitement.

"In the final competition, judges unanimously agreed the show perfectly combined acrobatics and humorous interaction with high technical demands and flexibility. Later, we plan to schedule a live performance of Boogie Man at the Chongqing International Circus City." Chen explained.

In the future, the Chongqing Acrobatic Troupe will continue its people-centered orientation, strive to create more high-quality extravaganzas, participate in various domestic and foreign competitions, and further cultivate a talented base of acrobatics which will add luster to the culture and art scene in Chongqing.
