Chongqing- Over the past five years, Chongqing has made remarkable achievements in various undertakings and reached a new stage in high-level opening-up and high-quality development. Hu Henghua, Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, delivered the government work report at the first session of the Sixth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress opened on January 13.

The city's gross regional product increased from 2.01 trillion yuan in 2017 to over 2.9 trillion yuan in 2022, with an average annual growth of about 5.3%. The regional GDP per capita increased from 64,176 yuan in 2017 to nearly 90,000 yuan in 2022, higher than the national average. Fixed asset investment and retail sales of consumer goods are projected to grow at an average annual rate of 4.7% and 7.2%, respectively. The industrial added value above the designated scale is estimated to grow at an average yearly rate of 5.2%, with high-tech manufacturing and strategic emerging industries accounting for 19% and 30%, respectively.

Chongqing's economic strength, scientific and technological strength, and comprehensive competitiveness have been further enhanced, and the foundation for high-quality development has been significantly consolidated.
