By YUAN DAI|Jan 15,2023

Chongqing- The Chongqing business delegation achieved the first orders in Malaysia totaling 16 million U.S. dollars on January 10, initiating the first stop to share business opportunities with ASEAN partners in 2023.

Fruitful trip in Malaysia

A total of 9 Chongqing enterprises signed the cooperation contracts at China (Chongqing)-Malaysia Enterprise Economic and Trade Conference, while 12 enterprises from Malaysia engaged in the contract signing.

The cooperation between both sides covers the field of general-purpose power machinery, hardware, automobile and motorcycle, and access control system.

The deputy general director of the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), Xie Zhongzheng, welcomed the Chongqing business delegation.

“Malaysia is the second largest ASEAN trade partner of Chongqing. With the implementation of the RCEP agreement, the trade exchanges between both sides become closer,” said Xie. “I hope both sides can reach further exchanges.”

According to the deputy director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce Xu Xincheng, the economic and trade conference aims to build a platform for enterprises from Chongqing and Malaysia. It is an excellent opportunity for Malaysian enterprises better understand Chongqing’s economic development.

Face-to-Face negotiation facilitates cooperation.

“iWorldplus Enterprise becomes our first dealer in Malaysia,” said Shuai Ling, the director of Formovie, a Laser TV and smart projector provider from Chongqing Liangjiang New Area.

Formovie sells its products through online platforms. Shuai said that, in the second half year of 2022, he started to negotiate with iWorldplus, but the negotiation progressed slowly due to an unable face-to-face discussion.

“The trip to Malaysia is the catalyst for strengthening our cooperation with iWorlplus,” said Shuai.

Shuai reached Chen Wenchang, the general manager of iWorlplus, once arriving in Malaysia. Through an hour discussion, Chen better understood Formovie’s products and expressed cooperation intention. They reached a cooperation and signed the contract at the conference.

Another company, Chongqing Mingyou Steel Products Manufacturing Co., Ltd., mainly producing hardware products, has signed a cooperation contract with a local enterprise Satech Hardware Bhd.

By virtue of this trip, Mingyou tried to contact Satech, who expressed their willingness to process a further talk in Kuala Lumpur after hearing the Chongqing government organized the trip.

According to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, the Chongqing business delegation will fly to Thailand, another ASEAN country, following Malaysia’s fruitful economic and trade conference.
