Chongqing- iChongqing and Bridging News reporters participated in the first session of the Sixth Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress (NPC Chongqing) and opened a window for global viewers to understand China’s whole-process people’s democracy.

Xinhua reported that the “whole process” means the people engage in democratic elections, consultations, decision-making, management, and oversight according to the law. Chongqing Two Sessions serve as an important part of the city’s political life.

At Chongqing Two Sessions, deputies to the Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress and the members of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC Chongqing) offered motions and proposals for the future development of the city.

Many newly elected deputies made their first appearance at the first session of the 6th Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress.

Statistics showed that, among 867 newly-elected deputies to the sixth Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress, the municipal legislature, 306 grassroots deputies, including frontline workers, farmers, and skilled professionals, accounted for 35.29%, an increase of 1.06 percentage points. Moreover, 267 women deputies had a representation of 30.80%, with a gain of 4.40 percentage points.

As an NPC Chongqing deputy and Assistant President of Senci Electric Machinery CO., Ltd., Shimily Ai and other deputies jointly proposed offering more policy support to the digital economy talents, an important way to upgrade Chonqing’s smart manufacturing.

“I found out that today more and more factories try to pay more attention to Research and Development (R&D) centers,” said Ai. “They try to develop more high-technology products to become more competitive in the international markets.”

Ai thinks reaching the target is inseparable from cultivating independent brands, creating brand products with global influence and international competitiveness, building independent sales channels, expanding overseas markets, and promoting high-quality products made in China to the world.

Ai continued as a post-90s NPC Chongqing Deputy; she will unite and lead peers around her to work hard together, write a chapter of youth with the result of struggle, and fight for a better tomorrow for the motherland.
