Chongqing- The 6th Chongqing Sports Tourism Industry Development Conference is set to open from February 16 to 17 in Nanchuan District, where attendees will pursue the goal of promoting high-quality development in the Chongqing sports industry as well as integrated development within the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle in modern sports city construction.
The main event theme will be focused on creating a first-choice destination for outdoor sports with demonstration value nationwide. During the proceedings, organizers will promote boutique sports tourism projects in Sichuan and Chongqing, such as the Jinfo Mountain Scenic Area and Lixiang Lake, which were selected in 2022 as national boutique sports travel routes.
Meanwhile, activities related to the Sichuan-Chongqing Sports Tourism Carnival and Nanchuan Consumption Season for Culture, Sports, and Tourism will be held simultaneously.
According to the Culture and Tourism Commission of Nanchuan District, remarkable results have been achieved in the integration of sports and tourism in recent years, with traditional outdoor activities like skiing, rafting, and camping based at Jinfo Mountain having gained strong popularity and new emerging formats such as kayaking, cross-country and paragliding experiences at Lixiang Lake now coming to the forefront.
In addition, Nanchuan has introduced major brand enterprises to develop sports and leisure projects to a whole new level, including auto-camping, forest hikes, mountain climbing, and water sports.
In the next step, Nanchuan will make full use of snow resources and mountain scenery to build a winter tourist resort and top outdoor sports destination nationwide, with integrated health towns for sports tourism aimed for completion during the Fourteenth Five Year Plan.
The Sports and Tourism Conference has become a major event on the calendar for exchange in the Sichuan-Chongqing sports industry. An official representing the Municipal Sports Bureau stated in anticipation of the upcoming event in Nanchuan;
“This conference will further explore the potential value of outdoor tourism resources in the Sichuan-Chongqing region and strive to build a platform for industry exchange in the promotion of high-quality development for sports tourism in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.”
