Chongqing - Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality is set to implement over 1,100 municipal key construction projects this year, with a total investment of nearly three trillion yuan (about USD 440 billion), marking the first time the number of projects has exceeded 1,000, according to a press conference on February 21.

The planned investment for this year amounts to nearly 430 billion yuan, which is up 19.2% compared to the previous year, the highest growth rate in recent years, according to Zuo Yongxiang, the director of Chongqing Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee.

Of the 1,146 projects, 380 were newly commenced, with a total investment of about 866.7 billion yuan, while 766 are currently under construction, with a total investment of 2.1 trillion yuan.

The city has also strengthened various safeguard measures to meet market demand and recently held a matchmaking conference to promote the construction of key projects, major projects of Sichuan-Chongqing cooperation, and local government special bond projects.

Cultivating specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative companies by rewarding enterprises rated as national "little giants" or single champions of the manufacturing industry, Chongqing will advance the development of leading industrial clusters by reinforcing, extending, and upgrading electronic industry chains.

During this year's Spring Festival holiday, the city's cultural and tourism market witnessed a recovery momentum, with drones and fireworks on New Year's Eve attracting global attention.

"Chongqing plans to continue promoting further recovery of cultural and tourism consumption in the city this year," said Qin Dingbo, vice director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development.

This involves boosting the cultural and tourism market by allocating a special fund of at least five million yuan to encourage travel agencies to organize tourists to northeast and southeast Chongqing, especially to key counties and townships.

"This act is to pursue rural revitalization, in addition to granting subsidies to municipal cultural and tourism exhibitions and booth subsidies to enterprises participating in major cultural and tourism expos," said Qin.
