Conference Outlines Sports Tourism Development in SW China | James' Vlog

By JAMES ALEXANDER|Feb 28,2023

Chongqing - The 20th National Congress proposed accelerating the construction of a new development plan, which involves focusing on well-being and quality of life. At the same time, Chongqing Municipality in southwestern China has put forward a clear path to achieve high-quality development in the sports tourism industry, which grew to an industrial scale of 65.9 billion yuan (about USD 9.49 billion) municipality-wide in 2021.

Nanchuan District in Chongqing has rich sports tourism resources, such as the Jinfo Mountain Scenic Area, which offers winter ski resorts, mountaineering, white water rafting, off-road motorcycling, and outdoor campsites. Successful events held in this scenic area include the International Rope Rescue Invitational Tournament, while it is hoped the Jinfo Mountain Marathon will be introduced in the near future.

The 6th Chongqing Sports Tourism Industry Development Conference was held in Nanchuan District from February 16 to 17. The first two featured visits to Jinhua Sports Park, Lixiang Lake, and East Street, which are recent developments that have achieved success in the integration of sports into the daily lives of local people and tourists alike. The conference was attended by officials and industry figures from across Chongqing and Sichuan and played an important role in promoting high-quality regional development in this integration of Tale of Two Cities.

In this Vlog post from the conference, iChongqing reporter James Alexander visited the three sports tourism locations mentioned above in Nanchuan and attended the main event in person for a behind-the-scenes experience, as well as to meet attendees who shared their thoughts and visions for industry development.
