Chongqing - Under the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, Chongqing should focus on industrial structure and organization, digital economy, science, and innovation, to build a modern industrial system and enhance corporate competitiveness, according to the second special press conference of the Chongqing delegation.
Chongqing is a nationally important modern manufacturing base with 31 major manufacturing industries. After long-term development, a multi-industrial pattern involving automobiles, electronics, equipment, materials, medicine, and consumer goods has formed.
According to Lan Qinghua, director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the city should build an advanced manufacturing system with advantageous industries and strategic emerging industries by improving the quality and efficiency of manufacturing, cultivating advanced manufacturing industry clusters, and others.
Chongqing will build two trillion-level industrial clusters of intelligent network-connected new energy vehicles and high-end electronics and 100-billion-level industrial clusters of intelligent equipment, advanced materials, green food, and modern light textiles.
The high-growth future industry clusters should also be laid out, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, life science, technology, satellite Internet, and green low-carbon sectors.
By 2027, Chongqing strives to reach 28% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in value-added industrial output from manufacturing, an annual growth of 11% in the research and development (R&D) investment in industrial enterprises above designated size, and 13% cumulative decrease in energy consumption per unit of added value in industries above fixed size.
Changan Automobile is a Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer headquartered in Chongqing.
Over the past five years, Changan Automobile has contributed 512.7 billion yuan (about 73.87 billion USD) in output value and 26.5 billion yuan in tax revenue to Chongqing, driving the national GDP of 1883 billion yuan and solving the employment of about 600,000 to 700,000 people.
"Changan has become a business card of Chongqing and China, helping Chongqing and the national auto industry develop in technology, talents, and brand," said Zhu Huarong, chairman of Changan Automobile Co., Ltd.
Zhu emphasized the great potential of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. The automobile is the leading industry in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, while the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry will support the region to achieve greater breakthroughs in building world-class industrial clusters.
Changan Automobile will lead the automotive sector to contribute to the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. It strives to achieve a production scale of 4.3 million vehicles by 2027, while overseas exports will exceed 500,000 vehicles, accounting for 15% of the total.
