By ZHAN CHEN|Mar 15,2023

Chongqing - The designated supervision site for the imported grain of Southwest China's Chongqing Guoyuan Port has passed the acceptance of the General Administration of Customs on March 7, marking the Guoyuan Port has become the first port in Chongqing with direct grain import qualification.

This will further boost the city's food and ecological security and reduce enterprise trade costs, aiming to promote Chongqing's export-oriented economy.

Located in the customs supervision workplace of Chongqing Guoyuan Port, the designated supervision site for imported grain contains berthing and unloading areas, grain inspection platforms, special warehouses for inbound grains, and quarantine treatment areas.

With 2,385 square meters of dedicated warehouses, it has five fully enclosed and liftable inspection platforms with an annual handling capacity of 100,000 tons.

According to an official of the Chongqing Customs District, the designated supervision site for imported grain guarantees the urgent demand for imported grain in the processing and aquaculture industry in Chongqing and surrounding areas.

For Chongqing Guoyuan Port, the designated supervision site for imported grain is of great significance in building a crucial port for importing and exporting grain transshipment and forming grain industry clusters, said Niu Xiandan, general manager of Chongqing Guoyuan Port International Logistics Hub Company.

After the site is implemented, it will provide more convenient conditions for customs clearance and inspection of imported grain products in Chongqing, which is conducive to improving the port customs efficiency and reducing trade costs of warehousing and logistics for enterprises.

In recent years, Chongqing made efforts to boost the Guoyuan Port National Logistics Hub, including accepting several designated regulatory sites for importing meat and grain.

Relying on a mature multimodal transport system and complete infrastructure, the Guoyuan Port has become an important window for transporting and distributing goods in the western region.

Next, the Guoyuan Port National Logistics Hub will strive to build an internationally renowned and domestic first-class important multimodal transportation hub, promote regional logistics development, and boost the transformation and upgrading of the surrounding industries.
