Chongqing - On March 20, the China Tourism Academy announced the benchmark cities for study tour destinations in China at the conference held in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, and Chongqing was selected as one of the five cities.

During the release ceremony of "China Study Tour Destination· Benchmark Cities," Dai Bin, dean of the China Tourism Research Institute, awarded certificates to the five benchmark cities of Chongqing, Shaoxing, Anyang, Huangshan, and Yichang. 

Liu Qi, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, shared the city's experience and highlights in developing study tours.

Chongqing is a historical and cultural city with a rich cultural heritage. The long-standing Ba-Yu culture, the world-renowned Three Gorges culture, the glorious revolutionary culture, and the immigrant culture have all become the core content of our study tours. 

"Although Chongqing's study tours have been greatly affected by the three years of the pandemic, we now have full confidence in Chongqing's study tours," said Liu Qi.

Firstly, Chongqing ranked first in the "China City Tourism Influence TOP100 List" in 2022, released by Sohu, a web content producer, and online service provider. Secondly, Chongqing has always maintained its first place in the "Beautiful City List" released monthly in 2022 by the Chinese short video giant Douyin(the Chinese sister app of TikTok). Thirdly, according to survey data from the China Tourism Academy, Chongqing is the province that Chinese people most want to visit after the Covid-19 pandemic.

During this year's Spring Festival, urban tourism in Chongqing quickly recovered, and statistics show that it has exceeded the level of the same period in 2019. This also confirms the China Tourism Academy's previous prediction that Chongqing's study tours would usher in a good start during the Spring Festival.

Chongqing has always attached great importance to the development of study tours. As one of China's first pilot regions for study tours, Chongqing has issued a series of policy documents to provide strong support and has formed a complete destination product and industry for study tours. 

Chongqing's unique landscape and cultural characteristics have created a series of study tour products combining intangible cultural heritage experience activity, technology, and cultural and museum study tours.

The city has highlighted the study tours centered on the Red Rock Spirit. It has vigorously cultivated the Chongqing Red Rock Study Practice Education Base, which has been selected as a "National Study Tour Demonstration Base" and one of the "First Batch of National Study Practice Education Bases for Primary and Secondary School Students." 

Moreover, it has extensively carried out the "Three Hundred Million Young People Entering Forests for Study and Education" campaign and conducted more than 60 international study tour activities. 

In the afternoon, Dean Dai Bin chaired the roundtable meeting "Study Tour·City Dialogue," and Qin Dingbo attended the meeting and conducted in-depth discussions with the participating guests on the current hot topic of study tours, such as how to develop study tours, and future initiatives for study tours.
