Chongqing - A press conference to interpret the Double Multiplication Action Plan for Chongqing High-Tech Enterprises and Science and Technology-Based Enterprises (2023-2027) was held on March 31.

According to the action plan, by 2025, the number of high-tech enterprises in the city will exceed 10,000, and technology-based enterprises will surpass 67,000. By 2027, the "Double Multiplication" target will be achieved, with over 12,800 high-tech enterprises and more than 86,000 technology-based enterprises.

Ming Ju, Director of the Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau, stated that in 2022, the number of high-tech enterprises in Chongqing reached 6,348, which is 3.1 times more than that of 2017, with a compound growth rate of 25.8%. Meanwhile, the number of technology-based enterprises at the end of 2022 reached 42,989, an increase of 5.3 times over 2017, with a compound growth rate of 44.9%.

Banan District, home to the Chongqing International Bio City, is one of the primary areas of the biomedical industry in Chongqing. It is the best example for improving the development of high-tech and technology-based enterprises in terms of quantity, growth rate, and quality.

Yang Yaping, Deputy District Mayor of Banan District People's Government, disclosed that the total number of science and technology enterprises in Ba'nan ranks at the forefront of Chongqing. In 2022, the number of science and technology enterprises broke through 4,000, accounting for 1/10 of the city, and the plan is to break through 9,000 enterprises by the year 2027.

Yang stated that the district would use the "Double Multiplication" Action Plan to transfer and transform achievements, guide project introductions, incubate and nurture enterprises, and leverage the biomedical and device industries to create a substantial number of high-tech and technology-based enterprises.

Banan District has screened 584 quasi-high-tech enterprises and 3,006 quasi-technology-based enterprises for precise cultivation.

Regarding industrial distribution, space incubation focuses on the four regions of Digital Intelligence Industrial Park, Dajiang Science and Technology City, Chongqing High Vocational City, and Smart Headquarters New City.
