Chongqing - Ma Ying-jeou, the former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang party, visited Seres Group's smart factory in Chongqing on April 4.

Zhang Xinghai, the founder of Seres Group, led Ma on a tour of the company's smart factory. Seres Group is among the private vehicle manufacturers that have transitioned from producing traditional fuel vehicles to new energy vehicles (NEVs), with its products marketed globally.

During his visit, Ma experienced Seres AITO models, a collaborative car that Seres manufactures while Huawei supplies the car's intelligent parts and "brain". Ma gave a thumbs up and showed his admiration for the car.

Starting on March 27, Ma led a group of students from Taiwan in communication and exchange activities while paying respects to his ancestors for the Qingming Festival or Tomb-sweeping Day. His itinerary includes stops in Nanjing, Wuhan, Changsha, Chongqing, and Shanghai.

The students also expressed a keen interest in the vehicles. One student even joked about packing an NEV in their suitcase before returning to Taiwan. 

The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council welcomed Ma's visit to the mainland and pledged to provide necessary assistance on March 20.
