Tourist attractions in Chongqing are crowded again, including Hongyadong, Liziba Station, and Yangtze River Cableway. Non-local visitors upload streams of short videos on Douyin. In the first quarter of 2023, Chongqing's culture and tourism market celebrated accelerated development!

On April 12, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development released data relevant to Chongqing's culture and tourism market in the first quarter of this year. The total number of overnight visitors received in the city from January to February increased by more than 70 percent yearly.

According to statistics, from January to March 2023, a total of 120 A-rated tourist attractions under Chongqing's intensive monitoring received 30.219 million tourists, and art troupes held 435 performances of various types. From January to February, Chongqing welcomed 15.1782 million overnight visitors, a year-on-year rise of 77.9%.

Its high popularity has also enabled Chongqing to top kinds of lists. According to the 2022 National Tourism Cities' Brand Influence Report, Chongqing ranked first in tourism influence. At the same time, Chongqing also headed Douyin's list of beautiful cities in January and February 2023.

In the Tourist Hotspots Forecast (Issue No. 17) released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Chongqing is predicted to be one of the popular tourist destinations in April, with a specific tourism popularity index of 91.28 (hundred-mark system), reaching the first-level (red) alert level.

According to Trip.com Group, Ly.com, and other online travel agencies, Chongqing has become one of the hottest tourist destinations for the upcoming May Day holiday. Trip.com Group's May Day holiday travel prospect report shows that the domestic travel orders registered through its website surged more than seven times compared with last year. Other cities with flocks of registered visitors include Shanghai, Beijing, and Nanjing. 

Data from Ly.com also reveal that as of April 11, Chongqing was one of China's most popular tourist destinations during the May Day holiday.
