10-Year contributions to the development of BRICS

BRICS Studies Institute of SISU is among China's first professional think tanks that specialized in studying the communication and cooperation of BRICS. After 10-year exploration and development, leveraging its multi-language resources and characteristics of a multi-discipline compound, the Institute has been dedicated to studying countries like Russia, Brazil, and India and people-to-people exchanges among BRICS members.

For instance, based on people-to-people exchanges among BRICS members, the institute is delving into a mode for the world civilizations exchanges and global people-to-people governance and gradually forming the SISU School dedicated to people-to-people exchanges study. The Institute sets up an "International Youth Simulated BRICS meeting" to promote exchanges among youth from BRICS countries and cultivate more talents for BRICS cooperation.

The BRICS Studies Institute of SISU has served cooperations and communications among BRICS members at both national and local levels. It has organized 3 BRICS think tanks international seminars, undertaken over ten pieces of research related to BRICS entrusted by governments, supported interpretations and translations for BRICS academic forums for two straight years, successfully applied for seven projects relevant to BRICS study under the national social science foundation, and written nearly 50 advisory reports about BRICS submitted to governments at the provincial level and above.

Pooling wisdom

At the ceremony, scholars and experts from universities like the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Foreign Affairs University, Fudan University, Liaoning University, and so forth gave speeches and participated in discussions under the theme of "BRICS and South-South cooperation in a new era." They summarized the achievements and contributions to the world that BRICS had made, analyzed crises and challenges that it faced in its development, and pooled wisdom together for future research and study to give better support for BRICS's development. Zhu Tianxiang, the director of the BRICS Studies Institute Center for Political & Security of SISU, said that many consensuses involving "what to do in BRICS studies, how to do BRICS studies and what to rely on in BRICS studies" had been reached.

In the future, oriented by strategies at the national and local level, the BRICS Studies Institute of SISU will strengthen its internationalization and deepen academic cooperation with other universities, related institutes, and organizations to push BRICS studies and South-South cooperation studies to a new level.
