Over 70 Themed Activities to be Celebrated for China Tourism Day in Chongqing

Chongqing branch events for the 2023 China Tourism Day and the annual "Three Gorges Tourism Forum" meeting are set to kick off in Wushan County in Northeast Chongqing on May 19.

At a related press conference, Jiang Weining, Director General Level Officer (Grade I) of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, revealed that the China Tourism Day will be celebrated under the theme "Beautiful China, Happy Journey." A variety of promotional activities will be launched throughout May, utilizing both online and offline channels.

During the theme week, five representative districts - Changshou, Yuzhong, Liangping, Nanchuan, and Dazu - will host activities focusing on mass, smart, and green tourism as well as culture and tourism integration.

The theme month, from May 1 to 31, will see all corners of Chongqing launching over 70 themed activities and implementing more than 100 measures to benefit the public. Besides a variety of cultural and tourism-themed activities, districts including Tongnan, Beibei, Fuling, Wulong, and Wushan County will offer benefits to residents and tourists, such as consumption coupons, free scenic spot tickets, and scenic spot ticket discounts.

At the launch ceremony, Wushan will introduce the "water-road-air-rail" tour of the Three Gorges, distribute Chongqing's cultural tourism gift packs, and sign a cooperation agreement for the special tourist train (Chengdu-Chongqing-Wushan) along the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor.

The annual "Three Gorges Tourism Forum" meeting will take place in Wushan on May 19, aimed at accelerating the global tourism revitalization of the "Great Three Gorges." Keynote speeches will be delivered by experts and scholars, including Dai Bin, Director of the China Tourism Academy, and Zhang Hui, Director of the Modern Tourism Research Institute of Beijing Jiaotong University. They will offer diverse perspectives on high-quality tourism development in the Three Gorges Region. The meeting will also unveil the Three Gorges Global Tourism Revitalization Initiative (Wushan).

On May 20, the first Happy Rainbow Run will kick off in Wushan. This inaugural fun sports event in Wushan is themed around mass tourism and participation. Along the route, participants can enjoy the impressive scenery of Wushan while experiencing the joy and vitality of interactive engagement.
