From June 21 to 22, the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government and Rongchang District People's Government jointly hosted the captivating "Millennium-old Rongchang-History and Culture Week." The event welcomed consular officers and commercial representatives from eight countries in Chongqing and Chengdu, offering them a unique opportunity to delve into the vibrant world of traditional folk customs.
Gao Hongbo, Secretary of the CPC Rongchang District Committee, and Wan Rong, Mayor of Rongchang District, warmly greeted the delegation, engaging in fruitful discussions with consuls-general and commercial representatives about strengthening exchanges and collaboration between Rongchang District and their respective countries.
Li Mingquan, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, expressed the office's commitment to leveraging foreign consulates and overseas institutions in Chongqing as bridges to integrate foreign resources. This effort aims to facilitate the expansion of international presence and friendly exchanges and cooperation between districts, counties in Chongqing, and foreign countries. He extended a warm invitation to the guests, encouraging them to discover the beauty and cooperation opportunities Rongchang District offers, promoting further friendly exchanges and cooperation.

The delegation embarked on an enriching tour, starting with visits to the Planning Exhibition Hall of Rongchang High-tech Industrial Development Zone and the Belt and Road Ceramic Expo Center. These visits provided valuable insights into Rongchang's industrial development. They showcased the intricate fusion of Sichuan-Chongqing culture and China's fashion trends through captivating shows during the 2023 Chongqing International Fashion Week and the China & Rongchang: Night of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

"Winding bamboo or reed leaves around white rice and fastening with a ribbon..." The delegation members eagerly engaged in learning how to craft zongzi from local residents, who left them in awe of their proficient skills.
Throughout their visit, members of the delegation lavished praise on Rongqing's rich history and culture, characterizing their tour as unique and meaningful. They expressed an eagerness to bolster communication with the district and probe into potential opportunities for cooperation across various sectors.
Huub Buise, Consul-General of the Netherlands in Chongqing, extended his admiration for Rongchang's authentic historical and cultural aura. Recognizing the district's substantial role in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic sphere, he acknowledged its strides in ceramics and underlined the investment potential and business innovation opportunities ripe for exploration. Buise disclosed plans to invite a trio of ceramic artists from the Netherlands to Rongchang to facilitate skills exchange and lay the groundwork for long-term cooperation. Furthering this, he also expressed an intention to extend an invitation to artists from Rongchang to visit the Netherlands.
Mari Takada, Consul-General of Japan in Chongqing, articulated her profound impression of Rongchang's harmonious blend of traditional and modern culture. Drawing connections between Japan and China, she underscored the shared celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival and their intertwined cultural narratives as neighboring nations. Takada committed to amplifying the ties and collaborative efforts among Japan, Chongqing, and the Rongchang District.
