Chongqing - "Chongqing is a pivotal strategic point for the development of western China," said Ning Feng, President of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). "Situated at the convergence of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Chongqing plays a unique and significant role in the national, regional development and the opening-up of economic landscapes."

"Ever since the inaugural event, the Chongqing delegation has actively engaged in the China International Import Expo (CIIE), contributing to buyer invitations, facilitating transactions, and promoting cultural exchanges. It has proven to be a significant supporting force for the CIIE," added Ning.

In preparation for the sixth CIIE, slated to take place from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai, the CIIE Bureau has been hosting promotional events worldwide. These include conferences and company visits to attract participants, foster economic and cultural exchanges, and enhance engagement between exhibitors and buyers.

The CIIE, the world's first national-level exhibition with import as its theme, has served as a gateway for foreign enterprises to enter the Chinese market since its establishment in 2018, emerging as a critical portal for China's economic opening up.

The CIIE roadshow took place in Chongqing on June 29. The event was jointly organized by the China International Import Expo Bureau, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce.

The roadshow hosted 24 renowned enterprises from nine countries, including the United States, Germany, and Japan, presenting hundreds of products across ten categories: medical devices, nutritional health products, pharmaceuticals, dairy products, and alcoholic beverages.

Approximately 160 Chongqing buyers, including representatives from Chongqing Chemical and Pharmaceutical Holding (Group) Company, Zybio Inc., and Chongqing University Cancer Hospital, attended the event to gain advanced insights into the exhibitors and their products.

Liu Xiangyu, Director of the Department of Medical Engineering at Chongqing University Cancer Hospital, commented, "The CIIE hosts the most comprehensive range of categories among the many exhibitions I have attended. I have discovered numerous new devices and technologies at the CIIE." Liu also revealed his intention to purchase large-scale medical equipment at the 6th CIIE.

Local buyers from Chongqing held on-site discussions with exhibitors in the food and agricultural products exhibition area. Chongqing Municipal Health Commission representatives, Chongqing Medical Insurance Bureau, and Chongqing Municipal Drug Administration also introduced local policies.
