This July, a variety of magnificent shows will grace the stages of Chongqing, offering locals and tourists a taste of enthralling stage technologies, historical narratives, melodious music, dynamic dance performances, and gripping tales.
This drama narrates the love story of Yuchun, a concubine who yearns for freedom and love, and Wei Liansheng, a renowned actor in Peking Opera. The narrative reveals the societal awakening of individuals marginalized in society and criticizes society's cold and ruthless nature. In 2021, the Chongqing Drama Theatre officially commenced the rehearsal project of classic dramas about the War of Resistance. Returning Home on a Snowy Night (2023), the second production in this project, will be performed at Kangjian Hall, aiming to promote the War of Resistance-themed drama culture and represent the golden age of Chinese drama development.

The Hunan-Chongqing Friendship: Chinese and Foreign Classics Special Concert by the Changsha Symphony Orchestra will offer audiences not only stunning nighttime views of Chongqing but also the performance of Chinese and foreign classics, including Liuyang River, Red Detachment of Women Suite, Carmen Overture, and Voices of Spring Waltz.
The Legend of 12 Zodiac Animal Head Statues is more than a multimedia musical—it also includes a documentary session at the end. The performance features beautiful songs, impressive dances, and a brand-new multimedia design, giving the audience a comprehensive understanding of the background of these cultural relics, the journey of the animal head statues returning to China, and their installation in the Poly Art Museum.
