Oxford University and Haifu collaborating on minimally invasive medicine

A remarkable instance of this innovation is the high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapeutic system developed by Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd, a medical engineering firm based in Chongqing. This system has established 50 minimally invasive treatment centers in 22 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, expanding across multiple nations.

As of the end of 2022, this system has effectively treated over 240,000 patients with benign and malignant tumors globally. It has been exported to 30 countries and regions, gaining access to 46 countries and regions.

David Cranston, President of the International Society of Minimally Invasive and Virtual Surgery (ISMIVS), mentioned that Oxford University and Chongqing Haifu have had a longstanding collaboration aimed at enhancing minimally invasive medicine, yielding successful results.

Lang Jinghe, Honorary President of ISMIVS and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, underscored the importance of minimally invasive procedures designed to deliver optimal treatment results with minimal harm.

"In recent years, we have made significant advancements, particularly in using high-intensity focused ultrasound technology," Lang stated. "Our team has conducted comprehensive research both nationally and internationally."

Lang added that this conference will provide a platform to exchange experiences and further propagate the practice of minimally invasive medicine.
