Chongqing - The 18th National Smart Car Competition for College Students was held between July 21 and 23 at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT). 

With a focus on intelligent vehicle and drone technologies, contestants tackled technical obstacles to advance the development of the field.

The competition aimed to challenge participants' theoretical knowledge and practical skills, promoting teamwork, cooperation, and innovation. 

After two days of intense competition, the university category awarded six first prizes, 11 second prizes, and eight third prizes. A team from Hunan University awarded both the first prize and the Best Technical Award.

On July 21, participants explored the "Intelligent Warehousing" theme, simulating air-ground coordination, unmanned warehouse inventory tasks, and applying cutting-edge technologies like SLAM, navigation, and computer vision. 

They integrated basic mechanical designs to reach fully automatic start-up, code-sweeping inventory, obstacle-avoiding charging, and other functions in drones and intelligent vehicles. These innovations aimed to improve warehouse operations, reduce workforce costs, and achieve automated management.

During the "Intelligent Warehousing Creative Group" event on July 22, contestants demonstrated problem-solving abilities, algorithm efficiency, and system stability. 

Through collaboration and quick adjustments, they optimized algorithms and parameters to successfully complete simulated warehouse inventory tasks. One team's captain stated their desire to bring efficient and intelligent solutions to the logistics industry through their comprehensive technical approach.

A panel of esteemed judges, comprising UAV and intelligent vehicle research professionals, evaluated contestants based on task completion, smoothness, and safety, ensuring the competition's integrity.

In recent years, intelligent vehicle and drone technology has gained popularity in the science and technology field, inspiring students from various universities to invest in research and innovation.

The competition received extensive government, universities, enterprises, and societal support. CQUPT and related institutions provided high-quality venues and security. At the same time, DJI Industry Application and Beijing TT Aviation offered technical support and equipment sponsorship, fostering the development and innovation of intelligent storage technology.

Organized by the Chinese Society of Automation and co-sponsored by Beijing TT Aviation and other enterprises, this event brought together 370 college student teams and thousands of spectators.

The 18th National Smart Car Competition for College Students is a significant event under the National Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Project of the Ministry of Education, falling under Class A college students' competition projects.
