Chongqing - To optimize the efficient disposal of electric power waste materials and promote clean production, the State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company completed its one-year trial operation of a power renewable resources recycling center on August 3.

Over the past year, the company has processed over 3,900 tons of scrap copper, steel, and aluminum through the recycling center, significantly reducing carbon emissions by over 16,000 tons.

This year, Chongqing unveiled its plan to construct a waste and old materials recycling system, outlining its commitment to establishing a comprehensive waste and used materials recycling system by 2025. 

The ambitious plan aims to set up ten green sorting centers and two trading centers, with the number of participating enterprises expected to reach over 8,500.

"The establishment of the recycling center for electric power renewable resources represents our company's efforts on recycling system for waste and old materials," said the responsible individual from the State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company.

The power renewable resources recycling center has implemented seven professional waste dismantling production lines, including the thin wire dismantling production line, steel core aluminum stranded wire separation production line, cable dismantling production line, and more.

Among these lines, the center has taken a proactive approach to address environmental concerns. For example, over 100 newly discarded transformers are now securely stored in three oil tanks. 

"In the past, we had to negotiate individual contracts with various power supply companies to collect waste oil whenever available. Thanks to the power renewable resources recycling center, the centralized storage and transportation of transformer waste oil have become safer and more cost-effective," said a representative from the relevant environmental firm. 

With the establishment of the center, the State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has taken charge of material collection and review. Following proper dismantling and reporting, the waste materials find their way to the renewable resource trading area on the State Grid electronic commerce platform, forming a comprehensive and well-organized disposal chain for scrapped materials.
