Chongqing - New World Factory, Tmall Global’s pioneering cross-border supply chain model, officially commenced operations in Chongqing Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone on August 3, becoming the first in the Southwest region.
Launched in 2014, Tmall Global is Alibaba Group’s dedicated channel for cross-border e-commerce. As China’s largest cross-border B2C online marketplace, Tmall Global allows brands and retailers without operations in China to build virtual storefronts and ship products into China from their home countries.
The New World Factory project adopts a novel approach of bonded imports, retail processing, and omnichannel sales to pre-process overseas finished products within domestic bonded zones.
This streamlined approach has shortened the time from product development to store shelves to just three months, enabling fast delivery of short-lifespan goods within 48 hours. The new model significantly reduces supply cycles and enhances cross-border supply chain efficiency and stability.
Over ten brands from countries such as New Zealand, Germany, and Spain have expressed interest in cooperating with the New World Factory in the Chongqing Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone. In the future, a diverse range of imported pet foods, from staples to snacks and health supplements, will continuously enter the Chinese market through this project.
Under the New World Factory model, overseas merchants can not only cater to the diverse product demands of the Chinese market and reach flexible supply, but they can also reduce package damages caused during international transportation, leading to an overall 15% reduction in supply chain costs.

“Tmall Global is the preferred platform for global brands entering the Chinese market. We are committed to helping overseas brands lower costs and enhance efficiency and stability in cross-border supply chains, providing Chinese consumers with more efficient, convenient, and competitive products and services,” said Wang Haoyang, Vice President of the Public Affairs Department at Taobao and Tmall Group.
“The New World Factory project is one of our significant initiatives, and the Xiyong project in Chongqing will serve as another vital node for cross-border delivery of pet-related products, playing a crucial role,” Wang added.
Chongqing Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone is China’s first inland comprehensive bonded zone. With its strategic advantage of being connected to the China Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing) and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), as well as benefiting from favorable policies as a customs special supervision zone and a cross-border trade hub, the New World Factory will focus on supporting the delivery of finished pet foods from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
Liu Jie, President of Chongqing Silkroad Winifit International Logistics Limited, a company situated within the Chongqing Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone, highlighted that both national and local governments have introduced numerous favorable policies, and Chongqing has implemented corresponding pilot initiatives to facilitate the sub-packaging of pet food in cross-border e-commerce.
Tmall Global’s New World Factory has joined forces with several comprehensive bonded zones in Hangzhou, Linyi, Suzhou, Zhuhai, and Chongqing, forming mature production capacities covering the food, health supplements, pet food, and beauty industries.
It has served over 50 overseas brands and delivered over five million products, continually enhancing the supply chain capabilities for global brands entering the Chinese market.
