Chongqing - Adopting river-sea transportation, a shipment of Brazilian frozen beef arrived at Chongqing Guoyuan Port recently, completing the customs clearance process within its dedicated monitoring zone.
This 26-ton batch of frozen beef valued at about 130,000 US dollars was dispatched from the port of Santos in Brazil. After its arrival in Shanghai, China, it transitioned to its final destination at Guoyuan Port, Chongqing, the largest multimodal transport hub port in inland China.
River-sea transport has yielded multifaceted benefits, especially in reducing transportation duration and carbon emissions. It decreased by about 65%-80% compared to traditional road transport.
Furthermore, this method has upheld the quality and freshness of frozen beef, establishing a favorable channel for importing frozen and fresh commodities.

Representatives from the Sino-Singapore (Chongqing) DC Multimodal Logistics Co., Ltd. emphasized the advantages of this innovative approach, highlighting Guoyuan Port's unique supervision area for inbound meat, grains, and fruits.
Another pivotal element of this operation revolves around the designated observation site established at Guoyuan Port, boasting a comprehensive system for managing inspections and transfers, augmented by video surveillance and cold storage management.
In the first half of 2023, the Sino-Singapore (Chongqing) DC Multimodal Logistics Co., Ltd. made significant strides by procuring over 6,400 tons of frozen goods to meet the demands of local customers in Chongqing.
These products include frozen beef, pork, chicken, and mutton sourced from South America, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Belarus.
This marked acquisition of imported frozen beef represents a novel venture for the company, expanding the logistics and trade services while undertaking the initial batch of meat import clearances.
"We are working towards refining our operational procedures and providing valuable guidance to businesses, enabling them to make the most effective use of the customs clearance measures," said a responsible of Chongqing port customs.
They aim to fully capitalize on the supervisory capabilities of Chongqing Guoyuan Port within the domain of imported meat, thereby optimizing the process of meat imports in Chongqing and the neighboring regions, ensuring heightened efficiency and enhanced convenience.
