50 Renowned Auto Brands Compete for Assisted Driving Function | IVISTA Challenge

By ZHAN CHEN|Aug 24,2023

Chongqing -  As a prime attraction, the assisted driving assembly competition gripped enthusiasts within the 2023 IVISTA Intelligent Connected Vehicle Challenge on August 19, which incorporated intricate intersection scenes, detailed parking trials, and dynamic pedestrian interactions for the first time.

This competition combined over 60 models from 50 renowned brands, emphasizing automatic emergency braking (AEB) and automatic parking system (APS) as its core focus. The lineup showcased a dynamic blend of established automotive giants and burgeoning new energy vehicle (NEV) stars.

Further elevating the stakes, the debut of the 2023 IVISTA smart car index evaluation presented a rigorous test of mass-produced models' assisted driving prowess.

Changan Deep Blue SL03 rose above the APS competition

The APS competition presented challenging obstacles requiring precision and skill, with each level featuring distinct hurdles.

Specifically, the first level featured cone barrel identification, while the second stage incorporated obstacle recognition using parking posts. The bar was raised higher in the third level, escalating the difficulty with pillars, interfering vehicles, parking hurdles, and pedestrian interactions.

Notably, emerging players in the NEVs showcased potential. The Xiaopeng P7, for instance, aced the initial two levels but faltered at the third, failing to resume parking after detecting a simulated obstacle.

The Changan Deep Blue SL03 rose above the competition, demonstrating impeccable performance across all three scenarios. Its triumph solidified its position as the singular contender to conquer every stage of the challenge so far.

AEB tests the decision response of car systems

The APS competition provides a platform to showcase the system's decision-making responses, detection accuracy, and perceptual capabilities.

This year's AEB segment simulates pedestrians crossing roads during vehicular turns at traffic-light-free intersections, replicating realistic driving scenarios that captivated participants and referees alike.

With a growing focus on intelligent car performance at intersections globally, the 2023 IVISTA Intelligent Connected Vehicle Challenge stands out by not only aligning with the latest domestic and international standards but also unveiling a new test for the emergency braking systems of intelligent vehicles.

In this landscape, the 2023 Wenjie M5 smart driving version, bolstered by Huawei's support, emerged impressively, displaying precise recognition and maintaining a stable braking posture. Meanwhile, the Deep Blue SL03 retained its leading competitive edge in this event, demonstrating consistent excellence.
