Chongqing - From August 19 to 21, the inaugural International Forum on Cave Temple Preservation convened in Dazu, Chongqing. It assembled global experts in heritage conservation, providing a platform to discuss the pressing matter of safeguarding humanity's treasured cave temple heritage amidst the challenges of climate change. Participants engaged in rich dialogue, presenting case studies, integrating conceptual ideas, exploring technological solutions, and forecasting future prospects.

Renowned specialists from around the globe participated in these exchanges, offering their unique perspectives on preserving these landmarks in an ever-changing environmental landscape. The discussions pinpointed innovative strategies for the improved care and protection of cave temple artifacts, which stand as enduring links to our past.

Protecting these pivotal cave temple sites has emerged as a shared commitment that transcends national boundaries. In this context, iChongqing was honored to interview Feryal Ali Gauhar, who oversees Cultural Heritage Management for the Diamer Basha Dam Project in Pakistan. Gauhar conveyed her enthusiasm for the Dazu Rock Carvings and commended both the Chinese authorities and local initiatives for their unwavering commitment to the conservation and transmission of such monumental cultural assets.

Gauhar underscored the essence of heritage: enabling visitors to immerse themselves in both the intangible narratives and the tangible artifacts, fostering a comprehensive understanding and admiration of these historical sites.

In an era shadowed by climate change, the global community's resolve to protect these architectural gems and cultural reservoirs has never been more paramount.
