From September 3rd to 6th, the China International Press Communication Center organized the “@Chongqing @The World” Visit of Latin American and Eurasian Media to Chongqing as a part of the Smart China Expo 2023. 

Reporters from 22 media organizations representing 20 Latin America and Eurasia countries participated in the event. This is SCE’s first large-scale foreign media delegation and also the largest foreign media delegation in Chongqing in recent years.

During their stay in Chongqing, these foreign reporters interviewed and photographed the construction achievements of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) logistics hub and the operation of the China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing), participated in SCE 2023, 2023 China-CELAC Digital Technology Cooperation Forum, enterprise exchanges and other activities, visited digital technology enterprises, Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery, Hongyan Revolutionary Memorial Museum and other places, and interacted with reporters from CCTV, China News Service, Chongqing Daily, Chongqing Broadcasting Group and other central media and Chongqing media outlets. 

They had an in-depth understanding of Chongqing’s economic and social development and its active participation in the joint building of the BRI. They were impressed by the open and inclusive image of Chongqing.

Chongqing serves as an important strategic fulcrum for the development of western China and lies at the intersection of the BRI and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Currently, Chongqing is speeding up the building of a logistics hub of the BRI, a hub of high-quality foreign capital, and an international exchange center in central and western China. 

On September 3rd, these foreign reporters, together with domestic reporters, visited the International Logistics Hub in Inland China Exhibition Center and Chongqing Central Railway Container Terminal, participated in and photographed the departure of China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing), and learned about Chongqing’s opening-up history and remarkable achievements in building an inland international logistics hub and an inland opening-up hub. They also interviewed Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park officials and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics (China) Ltd.

The China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing) has run more than 10,000 trains in total. Among all China-Europe freight trains, it has the largest number of train operations, the strongest industrial driving force, the most balanced supply structure, and the broadest coverage.

On September 4th, these foreign reporters participated in the Opening Ceremony and Summit of SCE 2023, 2023 China-CELAC Digital Technology Cooperation Forum, enterprise exchanges and other activities in Chongqing.

The 2023 China-CELAC Digital Technology Cooperation Forum was held on September 4. The event will build a platform for cooperation and exchange among the government, research institutions, schools, and entrepreneurs through Chongqing-themed promotions, enterprise matchmaking, and exchanges. The platform will enhance friendship and mutual trust, create more opportunities for practical cooperation, and promote economic and trade cooperation between Chongqing and Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Focusing on the key area of digital technology, these foreign reporters also visited CISDI Group Co., Ltd. and Changan Automobile, two representative digital technology enterprises in Chongqing.

In the CISDI Industrial Internet Platform Application Exhibition Center, they learned about and highly praised the CISDigital industrial internet platform developed by CISDI. The platform has established in-depth cooperation with over 100 benchmarking enterprises in 18 industries, including mining, steel, non-ferrous metals, chemicals, and construction. The platform’s products and solutions have been applied in 31 provincial-level administrative regions across the country and overseas projects in Vietnam, India, Malaysia, and other places.

At the Changan Automobile Global R&D Center, they learned about Changan Automobile’s development history, superior resources, and automotive products. Changan Automobile launched the “Third Entrepreneurship-Innovation and Entrepreneurship Plan” in 2018 to transform from a traditional automobile manufacturer to a smart mobility technology company, shifting its focus from high-speed development to high-quality development. Establishing the Global R&D Center, which integrates superior global resources, marks a milestone step for Changan Automobile to implement its innovation and entrepreneurship plan and develop into a smart mobility technology company. These reporters also participated in the test drive of new vehicles with great interest and praised Chongqing’s R&D achievements in intelligent automobile manufacturing.

This foreign media delegation’s visit to Chongqing will deepen the knowledge and understanding of Latin American and Eurasian people about Chongqing, tell the Chongqing chapter of the Chinese story to the outside world, and help Chongqing build an inland opening-up hub. It will also deepen all-round opening-up and development, promote the exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Latin America and Eurasia, and help Chongqing develop high-quality economic cooperation with Latin America and Eurasia.
