Chongqing - As an important component of the 2023 Smart China Expo, the 2023 China-CELAC Digital Technology Cooperation Forum was held in Chongqing on September 4. Omar Paganini, Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Uruguay, accepted iChongqing's interview during the forum.

"For Uruguay, China is a strategic ally. We have been so for many years now, and it's also the main market for our production. So we are hoping to make a further step forward in cooperation in this context or science and technology as this event has shown." Paganini said, "I have the pleasure of presenting the evolution of Uruguay's innovation ecosystem and energy transformation, which are the main areas where we could get more cooperation in the future. But of course, we are keen on moving forward with a free trade agreement."

He mentioned the exchange and communication between Uruguay and Chongqing, "I was delighted to see Uruguay's presence in Chongqing and had the pleasure of exploring local businesses showcasing Uruguayan products. We're eager to strengthen our ties, especially with the support of the efficient general consulate here."

"Looking ahead, we hope to enhance our collaborative efforts, especially in production. We're also considering advancements in the scientific, technological, and innovation sectors."
