Chongqing — In a rapidly evolving digital era, artificial intelligence and new-age digital technologies are shaping the future of various sectors worldwide. The city of Chongqing, known for its tech-forward initiatives, recently hosted an influential tech event that has drawn global attention.
As a key segment of the 2023 Smart China Expo, the 2023 China-CELAC Digital Technology Cooperation Forum took place in Chongqing on September 4. Among the dignitaries present, Daniel Filmus, Argentina's Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, shared his insights in an exclusive interview with iChongqing.
"We have raised some of the topics that we consider essential, mainly applying new digital technologies and artificial intelligence to the agricultural sector, food production, the space sector, and the aerospace and satellite sector," Filmus highlighted.
Underlining Argentina's future plans, Filmus emphasized the significance of the country joining the BRICS bloc. "We greatly appreciate the efforts made by China to make it possible. From next year, Argentina will join the bloc, which comprises roughly 40% of the world's population and about 30% of its production. Argentina has much to offer in this alliance."
Reflecting on his maiden visit to Chongqing, Filmus expressed admiration for the city's advanced integration of digital technologies. "Chongqing has commendably embedded digitalization across various sectors. Argentina keenly observes Chongqing's successful implementation of artificial intelligence and digital processes, especially in the automotive, IT, and agricultural sectors."
"We're meticulously examining Chongqing's strides in infusing digital technologies and artificial intelligence within public administration and agriculture," Filmus added.
Elaborating on Argentina's trade strategy, he stated, "While Argentina traditionally exports primary products and imports high-value-added items rooted in science and technology, we're eager to pivot. Our goal is not only to export primary products but also to market Argentine technological and scientific innovations globally. Through mutual collaboration, Argentina and China can redefine trading norms, target new markets, and work towards a more balanced exchange."
The future of digital tech and AI holds endless possibilities, and partnerships like these signify a forward-looking global community keen on harnessing technology for broad-based benefits.
