Chongqing - On September 20, HP, the esteemed American multinational information technology company, celebrated the production of its 400 millionth computer in Southwest China's Chongqing. The significant event attracted leaders from over 50 supply chain companies, including Quanta, Inventec, and Wistron.

At the event, HP entered into a cooperation agreement with Chongqing to expedite the development of the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and the national logistics hub city. This collaboration seeks to bolster Chongqing's economic momentum, integrating the burgeoning computer industry and the contemporary manufacturing sectors.

Though historically recognized for its traditional manufacturing, Chongqing has undergone a remarkable transformation over the last decade. Today, the city is a powerhouse in the electronic information manufacturing, producing nearly one-third of the world's notebook computers.

Since initiating their partnership in 2008, HP has played a crucial role in reshaping Chongqing's technological and economic landscape. Recognizing Chongqing's strategic positioning as an inland municipality, coupled with its significant growth prospects, HP decided to invest in the region.

That year, a project signing ceremony cemented HP's commitment to Chongqing. This led HP to become the first IT company to launch a production base in the city. By 2010, HP's Chongqing production facility was up and running, generating global interest.

HP's foray into Chongqing has been enormously beneficial. The production facility generated numerous job opportunities and played a pivotal role in training skilled workers, essential for Chongqing's economic ascent.

Moreover, HP's strong foothold in the city attracted other tech giants, like Inventec and Quanta, to set up their operations in Chongqing, further enhancing the city's laptop manufacturing prowess.
