Major R&D centers in Chongqing

HP Inc. has been a longstanding partner in Chongqing's development, and this commitment has translated into significant progress. Nicolas noted two key initiatives.

"In May, HP inaugurated a cutting-edge PC Research and Development Center in Chongqing, firmly committed to propelling innovation in the city's computer manufacturing sector," said Nicolas.

Chongqing is one of the world's largest production hubs for personal computers and foreign equipment. The R&D center, equipped with a state-of-the-art failure analysis laboratory, underscores HP's steadfast commitment to enhancing its diverse product portfolio and further strengthening its role in advancing regional technological progress.

"The second one is that HP partnered with Chongqing University to aid in developing an AI Hub," Nicolas continued. This partnership aligns with Chongqing's vision for digital transformation and smart manufacturing, positioning the city as a hub for innovation in these fields.

The AI hub will focus on joint initiatives such as establishing an artificial intelligence application innovation laboratory, developing new alloy materials and processes, and promoting talent cultivation and exchange.

Nicolas also emphasized the importance of nurturing talent to drive digital transformation, as the technology landscape constantly changes.

HP Inc. sees these collaborations as an investment in Chongqing's talent pool and intelligent manufacturing environment. As the city benefits and grows, HP anticipates reaping the rewards of a more skilled workforce and an enriched innovation ecosystem.

HP serves as a model

Nicolas gave three suggestions to expand the development of Chongqing's foreign trade in the future.

First, Nicolas encourages more foreign companies to invest in Chongqing, which requires the city to establish an ecosystem that supports their entry. HP's experience serves as a model for welcoming foreign companies.

Second, Nicolas said local private companies need mechanisms to compete globally. He recommended a fund establishment to assist the private companies in exporting their products overseas, enabling them to compete effectively with more giant corporations.

Third, he also talked about focusing on upskilling talent. Strengthening the local workforce is vital to the success of "Made in Chongqing" and enhancing the region's brand and reputation.

As Chongqing continues to evolve as a center of innovation and growth, collaborations with HP Inc. are expected to drive economic progress and foster a brighter future for the city and its residents.
