Jing Kaiyuan, Deputy Director of Fuling District, illuminated that since 2021, Fuling has undertaken a feasibility study for a joint World Heritage application, meticulously exploring the values of Baiheliang and Egypt's nilometer (an ancient structure for measuring the Nile River's clarity and water level during its annual flood season). Seizing the Baiheliang Tourism and Culture Festival as a pivotal moment, Fuling has vigorously accelerated the pace of its joint World Heritage application endeavor. Throughout the Festival, experts from various nations will engage in profound exchanges on the research, protection, and utilization of Baiheliang and the nilometer, collaboratively exploring innovative models of cross-continental heritage application and cultural heritage protection cooperation.
During the press conference, it was highlighted that the Baiheliang Tourism and Culture Festival inaugurated in 2020, has celebrated its charm for three consecutive years, blossoming into one of Chongqing's pivotal brand festivals. Adopting the theme The Baiheliang of the world, the thriving Fuling in Happiness,” this year's festival is poised to dazzle with four major themed activities: a grand opening ceremony, insightful cultural and tourism exchanges, pulse-quickening sports events, and public-preferential consumption activities.
