Chongqing- A decade ago, President Xi Jinping launched the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Since then, the BRI has transformed from a broad concept into a finely tuned set of projects. It has become the world's most sought-after international public good and the most extensive platform for global cooperation, boasting impressive achievements.

Over the past ten years, the BRI's circle of collaborators has continually expanded. China has formalized Belt and Road cooperation agreements with over 150 countries and over 30 international organizations.

Belt and Road projects have yielded significant results in that same time frame. They include more than 3,000 individual cooperation initiatives, which have collectively attracted nearly $1 trillion in investment. These projects have created numerous national landmarks, advanced livelihoods, and established significant milestones in international cooperation.

Many transport infrastructure projects have taken off, contributing significantly to the growth of BRI partner nations. Clean, efficient, and sustainable green energy initiatives have illuminated the developmental path for these countries. Additionally, projects focused on improving living standards—spanning poverty alleviation, agricultural technology, and vocational education—have effectively elevated the quality of life in BRI partner nations.

According to the World Bank, full implementation of BRI transport infrastructure by 2030 is projected to boost global real income by 0.7 to 2.9 percent. This could lift 7.6 million people out of extreme poverty and an additional 32 million out of moderate poverty.

As we celebrate the BRI's 10th anniversary, the initiative is poised to set sail once again.
