By RAN ZHENG|Oct 13,2023

Chongqing - Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport announced on October 11 that the highly anticipated direct flight route from Chongqing to Paris will resume operations on November 28.

This resumption marks the ninth international (regional) passenger route the airport has revived this year. As a result, the airport now operates 17 international (regional) routes, with over 80 flights per week.

Hainan Airlines will operate the Chongqing-Paris route, utilizing their B787-9 wide-body passenger aircraft for this service. Flights are set for Tuesdays, departing from Chongqing at 2:00 a.m. and landing in Paris by 6:50 a.m. after an 11-hour and 50-minute journey. The return flight will leave Paris at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Chongqing at 5:00 a.m. the next day, with a total flight time of 10 hours and 30 minutes.

To celebrate the route's relaunch, Hainan Airlines is offering a promotional fare, with one-way economy class tickets from Chongqing starting at RMB 2,250, not including taxes. Passengers can book their seats through various platforms, such as Hainan Airlines' official website, mobile app, WeChat, hotline 95339, and authorized ticket outlets.

The re-establishment of this direct route serves as a vital air bridge between the two significant international hubs, thereby strengthening cultural, economic, and trade ties. Paris also offers a convenient transit point for travelers heading to Europe, Africa, and North America, complete with amenities like visa-free transfers and baggage services.

Earlier this year, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport resumed flights to multiple international destinations like London, Moscow, Doha, Osaka, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Nha Trang, and Taipei. Additionally, it enhanced routes to cities including Madrid, Dubai, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Airport authorities are eyeing further expansion, identifying the Sydney route as a top priority. The aim is to elevate Chongqing's status as a crucial inland aviation hub, focusing on strategic intercontinental routes and partnering with Belt and Road and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries.
