Chongqing - Chongqing's robust industrial base makes it an ideal partner for the collaborations that Iran actively seeks, remarked Hamidreza Gholamzadeh, Deputy for International Affairs of Tehran Municipality and Secretary-general of Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) at the recently held China (Chongqing) - Iran Forum For Global Economic And Trade Cooperation.
He underscored the importance of creating international alliances, noting that they serve as crucial links between cities and governments, playing a pivotal role in strengthening global ties.
Gholamzadeh stresses that while many pivotal decisions are made at the national level, there's a growing emphasis on local entities and groups for diverse joint initiatives and ventures.
To enhance communication and teamwork among Asian cities and urban officials, the Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) was established. The AMF aims to provide the required ground for sustainable development of all Asian cities in different economic, social, scientific, and technological fields.
Gholamzadeh said that internationally, sanctions' effects on national progress and international relations pose major hurdles for big cities. Both China and Iran grapple with these issues.
However, as a non-governmental entity, the AMF seeks to guide Asian cities through such adversities. Gholamzadeh believes platforms like AMF can pave the way for new economic ties, especially between Chinese and Iranian cities.

Currently, over 20 cities in Iran are affiliated with the AMF, spearheading collaborative efforts in areas ranging from culture and arts to waste management and transportation.
China and Iran have inked a 25-year cooperation agreement, with significant contributions expected from major cities like Chongqing, mentioned Gholamzadeh.
Gholamzadeh spotlights Chongqing, a bustling metropolis on the world map, for its remarkable growth trajectory. "Chongqing stands as a significant hub when it comes to innovations in the automobile and motorcycle sectors, where Iran is eager to forge new ties," he emphasized.
During his Chongqing tour, Gholamzadeh made a stop at the Changan factory, which left him in awe. "The advanced and digitized technologies deployed here are precisely what aim to integrate in Iran," he shared.
Gholamzadeh foresees Chongqing's tech prowess, industry insights, and financial strength playing a pivotal role in propelling Iran's development, offering mutual benefits on a global scale.
