Sichuan-Chongqing Aims for 200 Billion Yuan Cybersecurity Boom by 2025

By ZHAN CHEN|Oct 26,2023

Chongqing - By 2025, Sichuan and Chongqing's joint cybersecurity industry chain is projected to surpass 200 billion yuan (about 27.36 billion USD), according to the recently unveiled plan for high-quality collaboration of the cybersecurity industry in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle (2023-2025).

The plan seeks to spark innovation in cybersecurity, producing cutting-edge technological solutions, products, and services. This collaboration is held between 12 governmental departments from Sichuan and Chongqing in Southwest China.

As part of this ambitious strategy, there is an intention to onboard five significant players in the cybersecurity domain, rope in 30 specialized firms from niche sectors, and facilitate the growth of 100 tech-driven small to mid-sized enterprises.

The blueprint outlines 12 critical tasks divided among four key initiatives. A strong focus will be on cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and encryption.

These joint efforts aim to establish a cohesive digital security framework for the Sichuan-Chongqing region.

Recently, this region has seen significant advances in cybersecurity. In April 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the construction of the National Cybersecurity Industrial Park in Chengdu-Chongqing. This pioneering facility serves as China's leading cross-provincial hub for network security industries.

The vision for Sichuan and Chongqing is to strengthen their capabilities in network security technology innovation, foster talent development, and create a robust industrial ecosystem centered on new cybersecurity services. The objective is to make the park a focal point for the growth of the network security industry in western China.
