Chongqing - Western (Chongqing) Science City witnessed the debut of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base of World University Students at the 2023 Achievement Matchmaking Conference of the "Internet+" Competition on November 16.
The first batch of 22 base projects, spanning a broad spectrum of industries, from intelligent networked new energy vehicles to biomedicine and robotics, was signed.
Nestled in Western (Chongqing) Science City, the base forms the core of an ambitious plan that includes 28 university innovation hubs. This initiative is not just a local phenomenon but reaches out to universities across China and beyond.
Besides, this is not just another academic zone. The central area, with its conference center, living spaces, and hotel, forms a massive 400,000 square meter international community. This space is tailor-made for fostering exchange, training, incubation, and showcasing innovations at a global scale.
The base has created a complete ecosystem connecting academic ideas directly to industry applications. It also boasts three dedicated platforms that coordinate innovation efforts, pool resources, and organize activities.
Furthermore, the base is rolling out comprehensive support across various domains, including talent, innovation, industry, finance, and immigration. This means financial aid, R&D incentives, subsidies for specific sectors, interest-free loans for start-ups, and even special residence permits for international students.
The Competition draws in entrepreneurial students from over 70 colleges, alongside representatives from enterprises and research institutions. The day was filled with project showcases and productive networking.
Chongqing Beishuo Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. stands out among the newly signed projects. Zhang Chunlei, manager of the company's technology department, said, "We specialize in R&D and manufacturing of actuators and motors for unique environments, drawing our core team from top Chinese universities like Tsinghua University and Peking University."
He highlighted, "Being at the base allows us access to entrepreneurial support and proximity to numerous universities, aiding us in attracting top talent for collaborative research and development, enhancing our industry's competitiveness."
Officials from Western (Chongqing) Science City are optimistic about the future. The plan is to keep bringing in more resources and opportunities, helping innovators from China and abroad showcase their talents and achieve their entrepreneurial aspirations.
