Themed "Pooling Talent in New Chongqing, Joining Efforts for New Future," this year's CQITEC showcases an international perspective, incorporating eight global activities.
"Among these international events, the International Software Industry Talent Development Conference will gather over ten domestic and international organizations, such as the CENTI Group and AWS. Our goal is to connect more resources and foster Chongqing's growth as a Western talent center and innovation hub," said Pi Tao, Vice Director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee.
The conference aims to bolster Chongqing's digital economy, announcing crucial information on software talent. This includes the software talent super factory list and growth opportunities within the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle's software industry. It will also launch a software talent consortium and initiate talent cooperation projects.
Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, a digital economy beacon, harbors an energetic ecosystem with almost 10,000 active digital economy entities. The area's software and information service industry has surged past 100 billion yuan (approximately 13.94 billion U.S. dollars), attracting close to 100,000 software professionals.
The two-day event will present 13 varied activities, such as meetings, exhibitions, and competitions. These are designed to support the "416" science and technology innovation strategy and the "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system.
Enhancing the conference's stature, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Western Returned Scholars Association are key co-organizers. The Young Talents Visit Chongqing initiative offers an engaging platform, inviting thousands of young global talents for recruitment events and tours of prominent enterprises, universities, and research institutions. It aims to inspire them to build their careers in Chongqing.
Another feature is the "Miaoju Qingke Zhihui Chongqing" National Forum for Young Science and Technology Talents. The "Miaoju Qingke" initiative, a hub for young scientific minds, includes the China Youth Science and Technology Award recipients and the China Young Women Scientist Award.
The forum will host 20 China Youth Science and Technology Award winners, facilitating keynotes and presentations to boost exchanges and attract more young talent to the city.
Chongqing is committed to evolving into a Western hub for talent and innovation, employing a strategic-nurturing approach. This strategy targets the specific needs of professionals across various entrepreneurial stages, from inception to maturity.
The city has established five key service areas: talent recruitment, R&D, application of innovations, support for entrepreneurial growth, and vital life support services.
Currently, Chongqing is home to over 6.3 million skilled individuals, marking the highest talent concentration in West China. The city houses more than 200,000 R&D experts, a 21.8% increase from the previous year. This year, the recruitment of 1,090 postdoctoral candidates further underscores its expanding talent pool.
