Chongqing - Western China, a historical bastion, provides the country with abundant energy. Globally acclaimed, provincial regions in western China excel in innovative ecological protection, restoration, and environmental governance.
On December 21, ten provincial regions launched their joint promotion for the Ecological China·Amazing West on international platforms in Liangping District, Chongqing.
The event was jointly hosted by the Cyberspace Administration Offices of ten provincial regions, including Chongqing, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Xizang, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Xinjiang.
At the launch ceremony, Wu Yongjun, director of the Cyberspace Affairs Office of Chongqing and concurrently deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Chongqing Municipal Committee, emphasized online media and international institutions prioritizing ecological civilization. The event aims to vividly showcase Western China's environmental efforts, elevating its beauty nationally and globally.

Wu continued that Western China, including Chongqing, prioritizes green development for quality progress. Innovative environmental initiatives have yielded clearer skies, greener landscapes, and cleaner waters, enhancing the region's natural beauty.

The event involves over 50 global communication accounts linked to these regions' platforms. It emphasizes city image building, visuals, and promotions to showcase the beauty of Western China globally.
Cao Ling, Standing Committee Member and Director of the Publicity Department of Liangping District noted that Liangping, as the event's launch site, is leading in water management and wetland restoration. The district has pioneered the "small-scale wetland+," earning recognition as an international wetland city.

Through this event, Liangping aspires to boost the appeal of its ecological environment, spur quality economic growth, and foster a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. The target is to use small-scale wetlands to generate ecological, economic, and social benefits.
Reporter Liu Xia from Chongqing's Liangping District Media Center shared her experience of witnessing Liangping receiving its official designation as the second batch of International Wetland Cities during the 14th Conference of the Contracting Parties of the Ramsar Convention held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The launch ceremony also featured representatives from the International Communication Centers of ten provinces and regions, each highlighting their area's ecological strengths and environmental accomplishments. Danzeng Sezhen from Xizang delivered online blessings in Tibetan, while Tatiana, a Russian, introduced Guizhou in Chinese.
British journalist James, from the Western China International Communication Organization, shared his insights on China's environmental advancements. He spoke about how Chongqing's rapid growth and breathtaking landscapes have strengthened his bond with Western China, fueling his eagerness to explore the region further.
He indicated the significant growth of rural tourism in Chongqing, attracting visitors with its year-round scenic vistas and enjoyable experiences. James is committed to playing a role in improving the world's understanding of Chongqing's progress in ecological and green development.

The event also highlighted individuals' crucial role in transitioning towards a more quality-centric ecological and environmental governance approach. It featured stories from workers actively involved in building an ecological civilization and from residents of Western China who incorporate these environmental principles into their daily lives.
Chen Dongyan, Chief Editor of the Western China International Communication Organization, shared the international outreach strategy for this collaborative project, emphasizing a multimedia approach.
Using live streams, bilingual posters, and videos, the initiative, in partnership with communication agencies from Western China's provinces, targets international audiences, organizations, diplomats, and influencers. The plan includes involving provincial news websites in sharing articles, videos, and posters related to the event.

Furthermore, iChongqing is creating a central platform for discussion on social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, and Douyin to foster interactive discussions and launch social media hashtags such as #AmazingWest, #EcoChina, and monthly trending themes.
Western China's provinces and regions have a history of cooperation in international communication, particularly in city image promotion. Successful ventures include the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
The ten provinces and regions involved in this effort have a combined overseas social media following of over 30 million users. Their joint activities have significantly amplified their message, creating a robust platform to effectively share China's stories and reveal the splendor of Western China to a global audience.
