Chongqing Blue Sky Rescue Team Finds Two Survivors in Malatya, Türkiye

On February 6, a powerful earthquake struck southern Turkey near the Syrian border. The next day, nine Chongqing's Blue Sky Rescue Team members departed from Wanzhou to Wuhan and proceeded to Turkey for rescue operations. Bridging News conducted an exclusive interview with the team leader of Chongqing's Blue Sky Rescue Team to provide the latest updates on the rescue mission. The English report was the first to be released online, and China Daily also featured it on the same evening.

Ma Ying-jeou Visits Chongqing

In April, Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang party, visited Chongqing. Reporters captured moments of his visit to Chongqing's Three Gorges Museum and the Seres factory. At the Three Gorges Museum, Ma discussed the historical connection between him and the Three Gorges Dam, highlighting the shared roots between the two sides of the strait. While in the Seres factory, Taiwan students experienced AITO electric vehicles, showing the cultural resonance and deep friendship between the two sides. Ma's video series averaged over 100,000 views each on the video platform.

Chongqing's Auto Exports to Central Asia Skyrocket Fortyfold

From May 18 to 19, the China-Central Asia Summit was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. Bridging News analyzed the trade situation between Chongqing and Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, from January to April. Using the example of Chongqing-made cars traveling to Central Asia via the JSQ special train, Bridging News visualized trade data between Chongqing and these countries regarding export volume, trade in mechanical and electrical products, and contributions from private enterprises. The report discussed how multimodal transportation by road and rail enhances the efficiency of future international trade.

RCEP’s Full Implementation: A Cost-Effective and Complementary Collaboration for Member Countries | Insights

On June 2, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) officially took effect in the Philippines, signaling comprehensive implementation across all 15 signatory countries, including the 10 ASEAN countries, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand. Bridging News interviewed Deng Jing, deputy director and researcher at the Institute of International Economic and Trade and Logistics, Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences, to interpret the opportunities the agreement brings to international trade and Chongqing's industries. 

In this article, Bridging News also covered Chongqing Customs District issuing the first RCEP certificate of origin to Chongqing Shenchu Import and Export Trading Company, and explored how the company's foreign trade manager, Xiao Hong, plans to leverage RCEP advantages to formulate overseas market strategies and accelerate the company's international expansion.

How Chongqing Became a Creative City of Design Granted by UNESCO

On October 31, Chongqing was selected as the "Design Capital" in the UNESCO Global Creative Cities Network for 2023. From sculptures on the Yangtze River Bridge 40 years ago to the avant-garde design innovations of electric vehicles today, Chongqing's designers have consistently been at the forefront of their time. Bridging News interviewed Professor Wang Guanyi and Lecturer Wang Song from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, as well as Mi Mengdong and Tian Jiyu from Changan Global Design Center, to explore Chongqing's story in its design development.

Vietnam Plans Chongqing Consulate, Eyes ILSTC Opportunities | Insights

On December 13, China and Vietnam issued a joint statement expressing China's support for Vietnam in establishing a consulate general in Chongqing. Bridging News interviewed Dr. Tran Thi Thuy from the Institute of Chinese Studies at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Mr. Hoang Bao Long, a Hanoi tourist guide, analyzing economic, trade, and cultural and tourism aspects. Dr. Tran pointed out that, leveraging the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, economic and trade exchanges between Chongqing and Vietnam will increase, bringing investment opportunities and promising development prospects.

Chongqing Reports 10.5% Surge in Trade Exchanges with BRICS Nations | Economic Diplomacy

On August 23, the 15th BRICS Summit took place in Johannesburg, drawing global attention. Bridging News analyzed the trade between Chongqing and BRICS countries, showing data on Chongqing's imports and exports to and from Brazil, Russia, India, and South Africa in the first seven months. The products involved laptops, automobiles, and mobile phones. The report also mentioned the advantages of the  BRICS Research Institute of Sichuan International Studies University, which has complementary strengths in industry, cultural exchange, and a high degree of openness in BRICS cooperation.
