Chongqing - The inaugural express bulk transport train on the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway recently reached Chongqing, signifying a significant milestone in the railway's adoption of high-speed bulk transportation.

The plan is to schedule daily services of trains DJ5811 and DJ5812, traveling between Zhengzhou Hangkonggang Railway Station and Chongqing North Railway Station. Covering 1,028 kilometers in under 5 hours, this high-speed rail journey offers a direct, single-stop route, rivaling air freight in speed and saving a day compared to road transport.

Fan Qiang, general manager of Chongqing Logistics Group's integrated logistics division, underscored the continuous two-way operation of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed rail freight service. He stressed the importance of integrating innovative initiatives like the China Railway Express for international parcels and the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor with high-speed rail services to synergize the growth of Chongqing's manufacturing sector and high-speed rail freight.

The Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed rail is set to revolutionize express batch transportation, offering a maximum load capacity of 15 tons. This service is expected to be particularly beneficial for the shipment of perishables, biomedicine, business documents, and electronic goods, thus optimizing the use of high-speed rail resources.

Looking ahead, Chongqing and Henan plan to integrate their express logistics networks more closely with industrial and supply chains. This collaboration aims to position Chongqing as a critical national hub for high-speed rail freight to enhance trade channels and foster greater economic openness.

Tu Zhao, deputy director of the multimodal transport department of the Chongqing Port and Logistics Office, stated that the next step is to connect major economic regions to expand high-speed rail logistics lines, such as the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
