By XINYI LI|Jan 24,2024

Chongqing - Nestled in the heart of Yuzhong District, Chongqing, the Lavie Concept 98 Parking Lot transformed into a hub of artistic allure, hosting a unique art event that captivated many.

In this creative enclave, the multidisciplinary artist Tian Yong unveiled his latest collection of 12 artworks in the “Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World: New Painting Exchange Exhibition of Tian Yong.” More than a mere display of aesthetic prowess, this exhibition delved into the depths of Tian Yong’s philosophical musings, offering a window into his soul.

The exhibit hall became a canvas where Tian Yong’s abstract brushstrokes spoke volumes. His paintings, where branches stretched into valleys and skies, were a dance of colors and lines that resonated with each other, embodying his zest for life, apprehensions about the future, and his reflections on the global stage.

Delving into the exhibition’s theme, Tian  remarked, “This concept is rooted in my observations of the intellectual and artistic youth of the 1990s. Their transition from Milan Kundera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being to Haruki Murakami’s Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World has left an indelible imprint on our collective psyche.”

Tian’s versatility as a multidisciplinary artist is evident in his multifaceted career spanning painting, screenwriting, directing, and art direction.

His cinematic work, My Heart Soars, garnered the Art Award at the 9th Lyon Asian Cultural Film Festival in France. This recognition bolstered his confidence and solidified his future artistic trajectory. He expressed, “This accolade reaffirmed my endeavor to integrate regional and national cultures with my unique flair, steering my creative journey ahead.”

In his painting career, Tian has helmed exhibitions like “Returning Homeward: Tian Yong Art Exhibition,” graced the “6th Fine Arts Works Exhibition of Chongqing,” and participated in the Pingyao International Photography Festival. His works, celebrated and collected by connoisseurs and institutions alike, reflect his diverse experiences in advertising and design, which have broadened his artistic vision and international reach.

Discussing his philosophy on cross-media art, Tian noted, “At its core, art is an expression of human thought and philosophy. An artist, enriched with profound contemplation, should tailor their art form to best represent their thematic exploration and aspirations.”

In 2023, a year brimming with challenges, Tian quietly ventured into a reflective journey through the realm of art. This introspective path gave rise to a collection of new works, a testament to his relentless pursuit of exploring the inner realms and experimenting with artistic expressions.

Amidst this journey, he sought to find a semblance of balance amidst chaos and a glimmer of certainty within the uncertain. Each brushstroke represented a small yet significant step in his personal journey of growth and self-realization, subtly contributing to his evolving artistic narrative.
