Chongqing - On February 1, Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government met with the ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to China, Chung Jae-ho, and his delegation.
On behalf of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and the municipal government, Mayor Hu warmly welcomed Ambassador Chung and his delegation for their visit to Chongqing. He emphasized the significance of the economic and trade partnership between South Korea and Chongqing, highlighting the positive outcomes of friendly cooperation in recent years.
Mayor Hu underscored the ongoing efforts to implement national strategies such as the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. He noted that these initiatives provide important opportunities and broad space for deepening cooperation between the two sides.
Mayor Hu expressed the hope for further expansion of economic and trade exchanges, collaboration in electronics, automobiles, and equipment manufacturing industries, and the exploration of cooperation in science, education, culture, tourism, and sister-city relationships.
He also assured active support for developing Korean enterprises in Chongqing, providing necessary services and guarantees.
Ambassador Chung Jae-ho extended his gratitude to Chongqing for its preservation efforts concerning the former site of the provisional government of the Republic of Korea in Chongqing and the former headquarters of the Korean Liberation Army.
He acknowledged the deep historical ties between South Korea and Chongqing, noting the continuous warming of economic and trade cooperation in recent years.
Ambassador Chung conveyed confidence in Chongqing's socio-economic development and pledged to actively promote Chongqing's favorable business environment. He intended to facilitate connections between the business communities of both sides, advancing cooperation in commerce, tourism, and cultural exchange to new heights.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen the bilateral partnership further for mutual benefit.
