Chongqing Mayor Meets Consuls General in Chongqing and Chengdu

Chongqing - Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government recently met with the consuls general of Cambodia, the Philippines, Belarus, Japan, Austria, Singapore, Italy, Turkey, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Myanmar, Canada, Pakistan, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, and other countries in Chengdu and Chongqing.

Mayor Hu, on behalf of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, expressed his gratitude to the consuls general for their long-term support for Chongqing’s development as an inland open highland and a hub for international exchanges in central and western China

Mayor Hu said that in the past year, the city has achieved high-quality development, created a high-quality life for its people, and innovated efficient ways of governance. He also mentioned that Chongqing’s economy has continued to rebound, the construction of its higher-level open economy has been accelerated, the quality of its international exchanges has been further improved, and solid progress has been made in constructing a modern new Chongqing.

Consulates of various countries are witnesses and participants in Chongqing’s development. Mayor Hu encouraged all consuls general to persist in their role as bridges to introduce and showcase Chongqing to their people. At the same time, they were also expected to support and engage in developing Chongqing’s platform for opening up significant international events. The consul generals were encouraged to strengthen practical collaborations across domains to achieve mutual benefits and foster win-win outcomes. 

The consuls general of various countries in Chongqing congratulated Chongqing on its economic and social development achievements. They express that Chongqing, with the development opportunities arising from the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and the overlay of various Chinese national strategies, offers extensive collaboration prospects in areas such as industrial development, infrastructure construction, education, culture, and tourism. They are willing to actively promote exchanges and cooperation between their country and Chongqing, aiming to foster mutual development.
