Chongqing - Chongqing's Comprehensive Bonded Zone at Lianglu Guoyuan Port recently received its first convoy of 20 parallel-imported vehicles, marking a significant milestone in the zone's advancement in the automotive industry.

Originating from the port of Kuwait, these 20 vehicles traversed the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, an innovative sea and rail transport route, to reach the designated Chongqing Port, which specializes in the importation of complete vehicles.

Port officials revealed that the parallel-imported vehicles underwent meticulous unboxing, statutory inspections, and thorough testing on designated lines upon arrival. Carefully supervised, they were transported by trailer to the Guoyuan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone for storage, transfer, and distribution before reaching markets nationwide from Chongqing.

Parallel-imported vehicles, a distinct procurement method from traditional dealership channels, involve direct purchases from foreign dealers before being introduced to the domestic market. This streamlined approach eliminates multiple intermediaries, offering consumers significant price advantages, especially when opting for

Chongqing secured approval from China's Ministry of Commerce in 2018 to be one of the national pilot regions for parallel-imported vehicles. Since then, the city has consistently maintained its position among the nation's leaders regarding the volume of imported vehicles through its inland complete vehicle ports.

With the successful initiation of parallel import vehicle operations at the Guoyuan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone, the national logistics hub takes a significant step toward realizing its vision of becoming a hub for both vehicle imports and exports. This sets the stage for a comprehensive automotive trade and spare parts center, signaling a pivotal moment in Chongqing's automotive sector.
