By TAN XINYU|Feb 11,2024

Chongqing - With the arrival of the Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, the festive atmosphere envelops Chongqing, transforming its streets and alleys with colorful lights and decorations.

The city’s residents craft a unique New Year’s ambiance in their distinctive ways. Some capture moments of joy with their cameras, freezing the brilliant spectacle of sparks in celebration. Others gather at elaborate hundred-meter-long banquets, where they enjoy captivating performances, collectively immersing themselves in the rich ambiance of the festival. Yet others savor the sweet taste of candied hawthorn skewers, relishing the sugary delights of the season.

The traditional dragon dance adds a festive touch, symbolizing the new year’s dynamic and prosperous start. Residents also partake in traditional crafts such as paper cutting and calligraphy, creating unique expressions of good wishes. These activities contribute to a warm and artistically enriched atmosphere as the new year unfolds.
